Process - Illustration
Development The following
is a general guideline for the process used in developing
illustrations. The process is often modified by clients due to time and
budget constraints. Nonetheless, this process serves as a handy
checklist by which to ensure that all elements are completed.
Line Art Process
1. Identify learning objectives with SME (subject
matter expert)
2. Create concept sketches
3. Obtain concept sketch approval from SME
4. Obtain necessary product/components from SME
5. Take supporting digital photographs
6. Create line art
7. Add necessary callouts
8. Obtain line art approval from SME
9. Make revisions
10. Deliver or incorporate completed art
Photography Process
1. Identify learning objectives with SME (subject
matter expert)
2. Obtain necessary product from SME
3. Secure well lit work area with necessary tools,
stands, backgrounds, and other necessities
4. Take necessary digital photos
5. Download digital photos
6. Crop, resize, and adjust color levels in photos
7. Place photos in document
8. Obtain photo approval from SME
9. Perform revisions (re-shoot or create line art)
10. Deliver completed document
